Renowned for its health benefits, butter coffee has become a sort of hit amongst coffee drinkers and health guru’s over the most recent years. In Japan, the trend is yet to really kick off, but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t already made some kind of appearance on the country’s food map.
Saikyou Butter Coffee is Japan’s first butter coffee speciality store and has been operating from it’s two flagship stores in Yoyogi and Ikebukuro. A third addition to the company is scheduled to open outside Kamiyacho station from the 19th of August 2020.
As part of an opening campaign, the store will give out an eco-friendly tote bag to the first 300 customers between the 19th of August to the 21st of August.
Butter coffee is made with coffee, grass-fed cattle butter and MCT oil. The beverage is easy to drink and closely resembles a latte, but with a slight buttery sweetness.
By continuously drinking butter coffee you can expect to see a number of health benefits, such as increased concentration and memory, healthy promotion of lipolysis (the metabolic process in which fats are broken down) and improvements to intestinal health.
In addition to the store’s signature Butter Coffee drinks, the menu also contains a number of healthy food items such as salads, sandwiches and a range of additive free desserts.
The store works with a registered dietitian who calculates the nutritional values for all of the food and drinks handled at Saikyo Butter Coffee stores.
With less than 10g of sugar in each dish and drink, those who have to restrict their sugar intake can enjoy an easy break at Saikyo Butter Coffee.
