Marvel’s Editor-In-Chief Admits To Using Japanese Pseudonym But Many Japanese Fans Don’t Mind
Themed cafes are a big part of Japanese fan culture, leading to awesome menu items based on anime, movies, video games and more. Recently, a particular cafe in Tokyo called ‘Oh My Cafe’ has been using various Disney franchises as their inspiration for some temporary events, such as their Pixar Fest, Star Wars cafe and most recently, Winnie the Pooh’s Hunny Cafe.
Now their latest venture should be of interest to fans of the Marvel Universe and the group of superheroes that inhabit it. The Marvel Cafe’s menu includes a whole lineup of food and drinks themed around characters and motifs from the franchise’s back catalogue of movies.
Since the cafe is inspired by superheroes, efforts have been made to ensure that the dishes on offer are healthy, and the concept is 'power, courage, talent, justice, and companionship'.
If your favourite hero is Captain America you can pay tribute to him by going for the tomato pasta which has the character’s shield design in the food.
But only order the hammer curry, shaped like Mjolnir, if you think you’re as strong as Mighty Thor, otherwise you might not be able to lift it!
Some dishes, rather than featuring logos and characters, are actually based on a food item in the story, such as ‘Spiderman’s Usual Number 5 Chicken Sandwich’.
Black Widow also makes an appearance with a suitably dark coloured squid ink gratin.
Fans can wash these dishes down with a range of character-inspired, colourful beverages such as Captain America’s ramune soda.
Or Iron Man’s cherry option.
Of course a themed cafe wouldn’t be complete without an extensive souvenir shop, and this cafe has a whole collection of awesome Marvel goods to snatch up.
The space will also be decorated with various photo spots to help you commemorate your time there with realistic statues of various Avengers.
The cafe is being produced by ‘Oh My Cafe’, but not hosted there unlike some of their other Disney themed revelries. Rather, it can be found at Tokyo Box cafe&space in Omotesando until 29th November 2020. More information such as the full menu and how to reserve can be found on the official website.
