The Japanese character goods company Sanrio is expanding its territory in the greeting card industry. On November 12, 2020, they launched a website called Sanrio Greetings, which condenses their greeting card collection and product information all into one place.
Sanrio has been producing greeting cards in Japan as early as 1969, years before their most famous character, Hello Kitty, came to life. Since then, they’ve released hundreds of variations of greeting cards each year. This new website categorizes these cards based on the occasion, and there’s also a special category dedicated to the kawaii characters they’ve come to be known for.
Some of their greeting cards are quite elaborate and go beyond just a folded piece of paper you can write your holiday message in. Examples from their Christmas cards include a card with a snowy scene of a home and a light-up tree, and an adorable tower of Santa Clauses in the shape of a Christmas tree. There are also some cards that require assembly to display the full picture.
