Donguri Closet is an official Studio Ghibli brand that specialises in stylish accessories and interior items. If you’ve ever wondered what a scene in one of the animations smells like, they’ve got you covered with their new range of aroma products inspired by two classic films.
The movies featured in this line up are Laputa: Castle in the Sky and Howl’s Moving Castle. There’s two items for each, a reed diffuser (3300 yen) and an LED aroma gel light (3520 yen). The products are inspired by a specific scene, meaning your room can actually smell like a Ghibli movie.
For Laputa: Castle in the Sky, the reed diffuser is based on the scene when Pazu and Sheeta meet, with a refreshing soap scent. The dried flowers make it look particularly attractive as a room decoration.
When you turn on the aroma gel light, the scent starts to spread around the room. It’s an atmospheric alternative for those who can’t have candles in their apartment. The Laputa version has been inspired by the scene when Sheeta and Pazu open their eyes and see each other’s faces for the first time.
The Howl’s Moving Castle reed diffuser is inspired by Howl and Sophie’s walk through the air, incorporating various flower and berry aromas. You can see the colourful dried berries and flowers decorating the inside of the bottle.
For the gel light, when you turn on the LED it flickers like Calcifer in Howl’s palm.
Any of these items would make a great gift for a Studio Ghibli fan, or you can treat yourself and keep your home smelling has fresh as these memorable scenes.
These items can be picked up from branches of Donguri Kyowakoku with a Donguri Closet corner, or through the online shop.
