Rice balls as anime delinquents who happen to be the cutest bird in Japan are tough and tasty
Fans of the internationally popular Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人 shingeki no kyojin) franchise are surely looking forward to final season of the anime set to air from January 9th, 2022.
To drum up more excitement for the epic finale, Attack on Titan is collaborating with the NewDays Japanese convenience store chain on a series of food items and goods for a limited-time campaign between December 21st, 2021 and January 9th, 2022.
Collaboration food
For starters, you'll be able to sink your teeth into a colossal onigiri rice ball!
From NewDays' popular "Sugo-oni" (literally "awesome demon") rice ball series, here's the mega-sized "Shingeki no Sugo-oni!"
Exterminate every last grain of rice!
This titan-class rice ball is made by combining four types of rice balls (salmon, chicken gomoku, takana mustard leaf, and mentaiko mayonnaise) and it's about three times the size of a regular rice ball.
It will set you back 350 JPY (tax included) and is sold in NewDays locations in the Tokyo metropolitan area, as well as Nagano and Niigata JR train stations.
Or, if you're a fan of Captain Levi, you can try the "My goal... is to eat this" - Luxury seafood onigiri. Inspired by Captain Levi's famous line: "My goal ... is to kill Zeke," this seafood-rich onigiri includes yellowfin tuna, herring roe and scallops, enveloped in rice seasoned with a stock made with kombu from Hokkaido.
This onigiri costs 240 yen (tax included) and will be sold in the Tokyo metropolitan area, Nagano, Tohoku (excluding Akita and Aomori), and Niigata JR stations.
Finally, for more hearty appetites, there's the Nine Titans Rice Bowl Bento!
Nine different ingredients, including fried chicken, hamburg steak, grilled mackerel and hard-boiled egg are featured in this hefty rice bowl bento box inspired by the nine titans in Attack on Titan.
This bento costs 580 yen (tax included) and will be sold in the Tokyo metropolitan area and Nagano.
Many other food items will also be available, each one featuring different characters from Attack on Titan. See the official Attack on Titan x NewDays collaboration website here for details.

For example, during the first period, you'll get a set of five original New Year's postcards:
Lottery campaign
NewDays will also hold a campaign in which lucky winners will get an Attack on Titan poster (see below) signed by the cast, or NewDays original blankets. If you purchase more than 600 yen (including tax) including at least one participating Suntory beverage at all NewDays stores between Dec. 21st and Jan. 10th, you can enter the campaign by using the QR code or accessing the URL on your receipt by Jan. 11th (JST).
