NieR: Automata, produced by Square Enix and developed by Platinum Games, is a very popular action RPG game that has sold over 6 million units worldwide.
Today, February 23rd, 2022, during a special live stream to commemorate the game's fifth anniversary, it was announced that the game would be getting a TV anime adaptation.
The story takes place in the far future, where the human race has fled to the moon having been defeated by the overwhelming power of mechanical lifeforms operated by an alien race. 2B, a member of the newly organized human-built android unit "Yorha," must engage in a fierce battle to reclaim the Earth.
Although information is still scarce at the current time, a newly drawn anime visual (shown above) and a trailer announcing the decision to create the TV anime were released.
More information will be forthcoming.
