March 7th is "Sauna Day" in Japan. Established in 1984 by the Japan Sauna and Spa Association, the date was chosen because the numbers "3" and "7" are pronounced san and nana, which is reminiscent of the pronunciation of "sauna" in Japanese.
In celebration of "Sauna Day"...?
This year, Cup Noodle's Twitter account decided to celebrate the occasion by proposing a unique and whimsical diorama designed to fit on top of a lid of Cup Noodle...
Here's the video they posted that became a (steaming) hot topic on Twitter:
"We made a lid holder that looks like a sauna room when placed on a Cup Noodle filled with hot water.
You can wait for the noodles to cook while watching the sauna guests enjoying the steam.
#Sauna Day"
The inside of the sauna diorama gradually fogs up due to the steam from the Cup Noodle coming up from below.
By the end of the video, the sauna is so fogged up that you can hardly see the figurines of the guests enjoying the sauna inside.
The novel concept of this lid holder is perfect for "Sauna Day." Indeed, just by looking at the sauna room get all foggy, three minutes will pass before you know it and you'll also feel like taking a trip to the sauna while you're at it!
People who watched the video left all kinds of comments, such as:
* This is an actual product which we introduced before in grape Japan
Unfortunately, this diorama does not appear to be for sale...for now.
If you can't actually visit a sauna, this could be a great way to let off some steam!
