When it comes down to foods that are both sweet in flavour and appearance, Japan is the place to be, and no company has a better grasp on the concept than doughnut chain Floresta.
The donut chain prides itself on their handmade organic donuts, but what they’re really known for are the adorable shapes and appearances their creations take on.
From time to time the brand even teams up with kawaii company Sanrio, and together, the two have created some of the most lovable collaboration collections ever, such as with their Hello Kitty or Pompompurin limited edition sets.
In their latest mashup the two are bringing back Gudetama, who had previously been featured in a Floresta x Sanrio New Year celebratory crossover back in January of 2021.
A fan favourite, Gudetama is known for his unmotivated attitude and lazy nature, which we all resonate with every now and then.
This time, the lazy-egg-boy inspired doughnuts will be released to coincide with the Easter holiday season, and will be available to purchase bothin selected Floresta stores and their online shop.
The collection will come with three different designs to choose from; two with a character set in the centre of a ring doughnut, and another which sees a cup filled with character-inspired bite sized doughnut balls.
Floresta x Sanrio Easter Gudetama & Friends Ring Doughnuts
Price: 520 yen
Dates: 2 April – 24 April 2022
Choose between a ring doughnut featuring a central-sitting Gudetama or his friend Shakipiyo. These characters are made from doughnut balls, which makes use of the batter cut out of the main ring doughnuts.
Domestic pumpkin flavoured powder is kneaded into the white chocolate glazing to provide the bright yellow colour Gudetama and Shakipiyo are known for.
Floresta x Sanrio Easter Gudetama & Friends Korokoro Cup
Price: 690 yen
Dates: 2 April – 12 April 2022
In addition to the two ring doughnuts, the Floresta x Sanrio Easter collaboration also features a cup filled with five doughnut balls inspired by Gudetama and Nisetama-san. Just like the ring doughnut edition, these doughnut balls are made from leftover doughnut batter and coated in an organic pumpkin-powder chocolate glaze.
