It may not be the first type of collaboration to come to mind when thinking of Neon Genesis Evangelion, but there seems to be some synergy between the iconic anime and traditional Japanese crafts, including quality blades and cast iron kettles.
Evangelion fans can now give a toast with another traditional craft, this time in the form of a gorgeously crafted Evangelion Unit-01 Edo kiriko glass!
The craft of Edo kiriko (cut glass) is characterized by intricately designed patterns and beautiful colors in glassware, and that's on full display in these detailed and gorgeous Unit-01 drinking glasses.
While many Edo kiriko glasses use red and gold as a standard color, the Unit-01 glass designed by third generation Yukisho Nemoto of the renownded Nemoto Glass Kogei use a rare shade of violet to reproduce the EVA's color scheme.
The Evangelion Unit-01 are expected to go on sale in limited quantity in late June (priced at 64,900 yen) and are currently available for reservation in Japan.
