Spirited Away is a favorite of Ghibli fans worldwide, but CineFix is breathing a new kind of life into the wondrous story by retelling it in classic 8-bit form.
Just one of the numerous “gamified” movies from CineFix’s 8-bit Cinema series, this retro version of Hayao Miyazaki’s animation features dialogue in speech bubbles, and the adventures of Chihiro progressing in the fluid, pixelated way that is characteristic of old school NES and 80’s arcade games.
In just over four minutes, this Spirited Away 8-bit version tells the entire tale of Chihiro, of course starring Haku, No Face, Yubaba, and other notable characters. So get some popcorn ready, because you’re in for some serious, retro entertainment.
