The chubby Pikachu is getting a new glorious fabric refinement. Not like other Pokémon cards which are neither glossy nor dazzling, the always behaving Pokémon deserves a richer and regal tone to its presence, which can only be achieved with a card made of pure gold!

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokémon, the Pokémon Company partnered with Tanaka Precious Metals to turn the very first Pokémon cards into gold, which shows original attacks like Gnaw and Thunder Jolt.

Besides Pikachu's original status, they have also maintained Pikachu’s initial appearance. When Pikachu was first introduced in the story, he didn't have the fit, sparky look that we now know him to possess. However, after countless of battles with his trainer Ash, his look gradually changed over time.

The Pikachu gold card is made with 11 grams of 24-karat gold and comes with a glorious display case to mark the anniversary, and comes at a mind-boggling price of 216,000 yen (US$2,100) per card. You can find them on the 7net and Pokémon Center websites.

The card is precious, and although it comes at a high cost, the Pokémon Company also officially stated it cannot be used in official Pokémon tournaments or competitive play. Well, it's for the best, since it will be too obvious to your opponent that you are a holding a Pikachu.
