Turn Your House Into A Cat Paradise With These Real Life Neko-Atsume Goods
Though winter hasn't fully thawed yet, Japan has been seeing glimpses of warmer weather as Spring blooms on. And since temperatures are known to rise drastically in the span of just a few days, it's not too early to start preparing for days of higher humidity and fiercer heat. Thanks to Studio Ghibli store Donguri Kyowakoku, — the same store that gave us Ghibli teas in gorgeous tin cans — we can do just that with beautifully designed sensu fans adorned with summery patterns featuring some of our favorite characters from the films.
The fans, which will be hitting Donguri Kyowakoku stores starting end of April, bring us characters from My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Pom Poko. Elegantly decorated with patterns of fireworks, goldfish, and lots of flowers, they're the perfect companions to slip inside our bags when we're out and about during the hottest months of the year.
Totoro: Water rings and goldfish
Totoro: Fireworks filtering through tree leaves
Kiki’s Delivery Service: Floral encyclopedia
Pom Poko: The transformation of tanuki
Even the usually nondescript frames are detailed with silhouettes of Little Totoro, Jiji's footprints, and ribbons. Each sensu also has a charm hanging from it, and these extra touches of Ghibli love make the products all the more desirable for fans everywhere.
These Studio Ghibli sensu fans will soon be available at Donguri Kyowakoku stores, as well as online, for 2,980 yen (US$27.15). Nothing regarding international shipping has been announced as of yet, but package forwarding services can come in handy if they only end up offering domestic shipping.
Summer just might be a little more bearable this year with these beautiful fans in hand.
