You may remember that the latest in Japan's long line of bizarre but adorable mascots literally "evolved" on the baseball field. The newest mascot for Chiba Lotte Marines in Nippon Professional Baseball, Nazo no Sakana (Mysterious Fish), teased fans for weeks with cheeky appearances before transforming and revealing its creepy final form just a month ago.
On July 15th, the Mysterious Fish got to be a hometown hero of sorts, as the Chiba Lotte Marines hosted the NPB All-Star game at ZOZO Town Stadium. However, the evolving fish of mystery didn't get to relax much over the All-Star break thanks to some unruly house-guests. As it turns out, the mascots for other teams gathered at the spectacle treated the Mysterious Fish like a rare Pokemon--chasing after him with nets and eventually tackling him at the end of the third inning.
Perhaps a bit of jealousy forced this day's evolution.
Fortunately, the Mysterious Fish recovered from his capture to dress itself up just in time for the Lady's Day event celebration.
