Twice a year, mostly amateur figure modelers and sculptors display and sell their latest "garage kit" creations at Wonder Festival in the Makuhari Messe convention center. Earlier this year, we covered some of the amazing creations you can find there and we were so impressed that we decided to return for the summer edition.

We'll have our full coverage of the garage kits at Wonder Festival Summer 2018 in a separate article, but first, we wanted to show you some adorable shiba inu figures:

Atsuiinu

This summer has been particularly hot in Japan as well as many other parts of the world, and shibas, like humans, can only take so much of the heat. This cute figure by the modeling group Shiba no Daichi made a shiba spread out flat on the floor trying to stay cool, as dogs are often known to do. They call it "Atsuiinu," a play on words combining atsui, meaning "hot" and inu meaning "dog."

And as the sign indicates, Atsuiinu can help you make a tasty cup of instant noodles as its weight keeps the lid closed after you pour in hot water.

Hesoten Shiba Inu

Hesoten is a combination of heso, meaning belly button, and ten, meaning sky, so put together they mean: "belly up." If you love shibas, you've probably seen them like this just begging for a belly rub. These adorable hesoten shiba inu figures are the latest work by modelin group Mokei Kobo Mame Shiba.

The hesoten shibas come in three types and look great on tatami-mat coasters like these.

They also sell upright shibas which are just as cute.
