For ramen lovers, traveling throughout Japan can basically be considered a noodle pilgrimage given how many delicious ramen shops the country boasts. Truly seasoned ramen hunters, however, tend to veer from mapped out paths and sample Japan's more adventurous bowls of noodles, which include pink Hello Kitty ramen, Pringles ramen, and even "boob ramen".

But while broth coloring, potato chip powder, and breasts may not deter many ramen enthusiasts, perhaps the menacing maw of a piranha will! Those willing to find out can do so at an upcoming event in the Asakusa neighborhood of Tokyo, where a limited amount of Piranha Ramen will be served.

The event is hosted by Japan's Ninja Bar and Cafe, of all places, so you can practice your shuriken throwing skills after you've had a bowl of piranha noodles. Holiday Jack (the creative groupe that runs the establishment) will be importing 300 kg of piranhas (about 2000 piranhas) from the Amazon River to serve to a maximum of 300 guests per day during event (100 on the first day). Be forewarned, this translates into prices a bit beyond your standard ramen joint, with a bowl of ramen with piranha broth costing 3,000 yen, and special topping of a whole piranha an additional 2,500 yen.

If you're willing to wait out what will probably be a tough line and pay the full 5,500 yen, though, you'll get find this lovely smile greeting you from your ramen bowl.

Funnily enough, Piranha Ramen was actually announced earlier this year as one of Japan's many April Fools gags, but positive feedback and the adventurous spirit of Holiday Jack have turned it into a reality. If you feel like taking a bite out of piranha with your ramen, head over to the already interesting Ninja Bar and Cafe Asakusa during the event, which runs from September 20th-22nd.
