Just when you thought Japan's service that turns your pet's head into a super realistic wearable mask couldn't be topped, along comes artistic doll maker and hobbyist Kotsuneko (Bone Cat/@iiiiliiiil_1cm) to add another creative wrinkle to creating realistic cat replicants. Kotsuneko designs realistic cat dolls by giving them a bone structure and "flesh" coating that allows them to more accurately reflect how a cat looks when lying down, and feel when being held.

While the skeletal structure and sinewy covering may be a bit jarring at first, the dolls are designed to reflect the way a cat sort of crumples up, relaxes, and even goes limp when lying down or being cuddled as opposed to the standard stiff and reactionless stuffed animal cats commonly found in stores. In the above Tweet, Kotsuneko they were able to reproduce the comfort (of cuddling) a cat from a bone design.

While the cat doll itself goes limp, the sinewy lair in between the skeleton and fur provide the realistic and comforting texture of a snuggled kitty!

As you can see, it's not just the texture that's lifelike!

The kitty looks like quite the cooperative feline during the creation process.

The skeletal production is based on MDF (medium-density fiberboard), with resin covering the the cat doll's face.
