The ice cream pushers at Baskin Robbins, which is known as 31 Ice Cream in Japan, have been known to appeal to pop culture fans by creating sweet versions of famous characters.
Previously they’ve collaborated with Disney, Doraemon, and even Pokemon, on various exclusive flavours and products. But the character lineup for next month will appeal to fans of the cute creations of Sanrio.
The icy tributes are inspired by Pompompurin, a Golden Retreiver dog character that looks like a pudding.
The range includes a new ‘custard pudding’ flavour which combines custard ice cream with caramel (from 390 yen).
There will also be two Pompompurin sundaes on the menu. The elaborate ‘Nakayoshi Sundae’ celebrates all the character’s close friends (720 yen).
The ‘Nikkori Sundae’ comes in an adorable Pompompurin cup and is topped with colourful sprinkles (500 yen).
If you have a love for all of Sanrio’s popular creations and need a cake for a certain celebration, there’s even a whole ‘Snow Palette’ ice cream cake featuring Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, Pochacco and Hello Kitty (3200 yen).
These character treats will be coming to Japanese branches of Baskin Robbins from 1st to 30th November 2021. There will also be a special Christmas version of the ice cream cake available until 25th December.
