No Ghibli fan could be a loyal follower without their very own selection of Ghibliverse goods, and there is no better brand to stock up on goods inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s otherworldly creations than Benelic’s Donguri Republic.
Specialising in merging the world of Ghibli with our own, Donguri Republic has a large variety of merchandise ranging from miniature figurines and stationary to memorabilia clothing and quirky everyday items like this collection of charging cable bites.
Now the brand has done it again with their ‘Nostalgic Piggy Bank’ series scheduled for sale from the 20th of November 2021.
The Nostalgic Piggy Bank series is a collection of palm-sized piggy banks with a height of around 10-13cm. This size is perfect for holding dozens of 100-yen coins, and is a great place to store away a little bit of cash for your next trip to the Donguri Republic store. Featuring a glossy coating, the piggy banks express a retro aesthetic reminiscent of figures and miscellaneous goods from the 70’s and 80’s.
There are six different designs to choose from: Totoro and Mei from ‘My Neighbor Totoro’, Kiki and Jiji ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’ and Ashitaka and a Kodama from ‘Princess Mononoke’. Adding to the retro vibes, each piggy bank – apart from Totoro – comes with a nodding head.
Have your favourite character in the series help you save up some yennies, or if you’re having a hard time choosing, there’s nothing wrong with collecting them all and exhibiting them as a nostalgic money saving display at home.
Each character is made from a mixture of PVC and ABS materials and is available from 2,420 yen (tax included) from Donguri Republic stores or online here.
