Sanrio launches the “KUROMIfy the World” project, Kuromi makes her musical artist debut
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Sanrio’s beloved Cinnamoroll.
Since his unveiling back in 2002, the character has been a fan favourite, and has gone on to win first place in the Sanrio Character Awards on a number of occasions. As such, it is only fair that the character be celebrated in style, hence Sanrio’s decision to hold a number of projects and events throughout the year that put Cinnamoroll in the spotlight!
One such project is a fashionable collaboration with TOMY TAKARA’s dress up doll Licca-chan, a.k.a the Japanese equivalent to Mattel's Barbie Doll that has been loved by families since 1967.
Licca-chan x Cinnamoroll 20th Anniversary collaboration doll
In the mash-up, we get to see Licca-chan fully adopting Sanrio’s colour theme of the year “Cinnamoroll Blue”, as the doll is dressed from hair-to-toe (yes, I said hair) in Cinnamoroll’s classic pastel blue.
Further representing the character is Licca-chan’s balloon skirt dress, which features a cinnamoroll & friends cloud print against a background of pastel blue. This skirt is completed with a sheer mesh veil that is studded with plastic star-shaped “gems” and beads.
Accompanying the doll is a “Licca-chan-life-sized” stuffed Cinnamoroll plushie, which Licca-chan matches perfectly with her head accessories of a golden crown with attached large white Cinnamoroll-inspired ears.
Bringing it all together is Licca-chan’s long wavy locks which are coloured with a beautiful mixture of pastel blue and white.
The doll stands at around 22cm in height.
Included in the set is a doll stand and a number of 20th anniversary celebratory accessories such as bags, boxes and cards commemorating the event.
The collaborative doll is currently scheduled to be released on the 6th of March, but reservations are already open for those who want to ensure a doll before stocks run out.
Once available, the dolls will be awaiting purchase at toy stores, department stores and online retailers stocking TAKARA TOMY goods.
