Touching “A Whisker Away”-esque manga of deceased wife returning as cat to comfort husband
I've been a mum for 5 years now. I call my husband "dad", and he calls me "mum". Raising a child is definitely hard work, and we haven't had a chance to go out on a date in ages.
I want to feel that sparkle again. For instance, meet at a place, as if we don't even live together, and go out on a date.
My ideal romantic date has to include a place with great night views. It's been a while since TOKYO SKYTREE® had become a new icon for Tokyo, but I have to admit – I have never been up to its observation deck.
Apparently, you get clearer sky during winter, so it is one of the best times to see the city from the observation deck. When I found this out, I decided to ask my husband out on a date.
Heading to TOKYO SKYTREE
We arrived in Asakusa just before sunset. As we approached TOKYO SKYTREE, the illumination started to reveal itself. I couldn't help myself so I took a shot on my smartphone:
They have a special lighting until the end of February, just in time for the Valentine season. TOKYO SKYTREE's official website has the lighting schedule, so you can check out what you will expect to see beforehand.

As you get up to the observation deck, you are welcomed by a stunning view of Tokyo. On a sunny day (especially in winter) the view is so clear that you can see Tokyo Disneyland and Mount Fuji. I was even able to find the first apartment we moved into after we married. What they say is true: night view in winter is really great.
The night view is particularly great from sunset to around 8pm. It was as if office buildings were lit up just for us.
Also, if you head up to the observation deck when the rain is clearing, you might be in for a treat: all the dust is cleared away, making the view crystal clear.
The tower has tricks up its sleeves to rekindle your love
TOKYO SKYTREE has come up with a variety of neat touches just in time for Valentine's.
For example, here's a special soft-serve ice cream. This colorful, heart-sprinkled dessert is available at a cafe in the observation deck 350. Eating this with my husband made me feel like a young couple. Needless to say, it tasted absolutely delicious.
70's-80's music was playing in the background; with sparkling wine in one hand, it took me back in time to a younger self.
There will also be music events at the tower to make the night even better: TOMOYUKI TANAKA (FPM) will be playing on February 12, and MARC PANTHER on February 13. Both are well-known artists in Japan, so it's a good excuse for you to visit if you are a music fan.
The date turned out to be really great, with lots of lively chats about the places we've been to together while listening to the sort of music we listened to in the past.
And I don't know if it's the effect of the city lights, but my husband looked really sexy that night! I wore a pair of earrings that my husband gave me a long time ago... I hope he noticed them!
It really was like the old times. Although we don't get to spend as much time together as lovers, this date proved that the spark was still there.
