Now that Godzilla: Resurgence (Shin Gojira) has hit theaters with a sinister looking Godzilla directed by by Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno, many are wondering if anything will be done to bring the film and anime universes together. What was thought to be an April Fool's joke actually ended up being a collaboration in a series of merchandise, including Godzilla/Evangelion figures that still give fans hope of an eventual on-screen battle. Now famed character designer and artist behind the Metal Gear Solid series, Yoji Shinkawa is lending his masterful touch to the design of a new Godzilla vs. Evangelion crossover figure.

The collaboration will be released by figure maker Sentinel and appears to have been unveiled at a hobby conference held at UDX in Akihabara. The figure has a tentative official title: NERV-Engineered Anti-G-Weapon, with "G" obviously referring to his scaliness himself, Godzilla. This means that conceptually this Metal Gear Rex/EVA-01/Godzilla mashup is a counter-weapon against Godzilla. Whether it could actually hold up or not, we don't know, but it sure looks the part!
At the moment there are no specific details regarding the figure's release other than tentative name and design, but it would be a good idea to keep a tab on Sentinel figures for updates. If anything, this is the ultimate all in one figure for fans of all three series--and cool looking things in general.
