Onigiri, or rice balls, are the simplest but also one of the most beloved foods in Japan. All you need to prepare one is a handful of rice and some salt, and a filling of your choice if desired. But Onigiri Stand Gyu! is seeing more to onigiri than just a quick and easy meal, and will soon be opening a new location in Laforet Harajuku to sell slightly more elevated variations of rice balls.

Opening September 30th, the Harajuku Onigiri Stand Gyu! will be offering onigiri that are not just delicious, but can be paired wonderfully with a glass of your favorite alcoholic drink. The special lineup of onigiri include bite-sized Petit Onigiri, and more “high-end” onigiri made with ingredients like caviar, foie gras, and wagyu beef.
There will be a dining area at the Onigiri Stand, so you can grab a bite of onigiri and enjoy a refreshing glass of wine or sake after work (or in the afternoon, if you’d rather start early).

Onigiri Stand is a handmade rice ball stand produced by the Japanese Riceball Association, and whose locations can actually be found all over the world. This new location looks like it will be quite different from the others, though, and we can’t wait to try the place out for ourselves!
