Japan has hot springs covered. While most enjoy onsen, or traditional Japanese hot springs, there is no lacking of variety nowadays, with an upcoming hot spring amusement park, hot springs where you can bathe with capybara, and even amazing hot spring towns. Japanese confectionery company Morinaga is now throwing their hat in the hot spring ring, celebrating the 60th anniversary of their pancake mix with maple syrup-scented pancake baths!
The project has Morinaga teaming up with the Hakone Kowakien Yunessun resort, which has previously offered baths using wine, green tea, and coffee. The hot cake (what pancakes are called in Japan) baths have maple syrup and vanilla scents, and IT Media reports that resort staff will pour fresh maple syrup into the baths three times a day.
The pancake baths are being offered in the swimsuit-section of the resort, as they are intended for a fun way (and sweet-smelling) way to relax as opposed to bathing, making it a group-friendly activity. The baths will run until April 25th. If you can't make it, feel free to look into miso soup and ramen bath packs for your home.
