As the year goes on, there's one thing you can always count on in the world of Japanese fast food, and that's seasonally-limited edition special flavors of fries from McDonald's Japan. In the past, they've pushed the envelope with purple potato and chocolate pumpkin sauce covered fries, and just recently released a double cheeseburger flavored batch of fries. Now they seem to be getting a bit messier than usual with new cheesy Bolognese sauce fries.

Officially titled the "Kaketemiyo Cheese Bolognese" ("Try pouring on Cheese Bolognese") fries, the new menu item pairs classic McDonald's fires along with a Bolognese sauce that combines ground beef and pork, white cheddar cheese, tomatoes, onions, and a black pepper and garlic seasoning. Those in Japan can retweet the official McDonald's Japan account with the hashtag "#当テテミーヨ" for a chance at winning a cheese Bolognese sauce themed blanket and French fry case. Y'know...if you're into that sort of thing.

The fries will be available at McDonald's Japan from February 28th until the end of March. On their own, they can be had for 380 yen, or 480 yen with a medium soft drink (or small shake or cafe latte), and added on to any combination meal for an extra 100 yen.
