Cowboy Bebop is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a Cowboy Bebop-themed cafe in Tokyo and Osaka next month!
As fans of mega-popular anime series Cowboy Bebop await a U.S. live action television series with cautious optimism, they've been able to tide themselves over with a Blade Runner 2049 short helmed by series director Shinichiro Watanabe, and perhaps re-listening to Yoko Kanno's celebrated soundtrack. As soon as May 15th, however, fans will be able to literally whet their appetite as they can join in on a celebration of Cowboy Bebop's 20th anniversary with an official Cowboy Bebop Cafe opening in Tokyo and Osaka.
Animate Cafe (an anime store cafe with character inspired menus) branches in Tokyo and Osaka will host the celebration by giving two locations an injection of "see you, space cowboy" charm and turning into Cowboy Bebop Cafes in a collaboration promotion. According to a press release, the cafe's interior decor will be modeled after the aesthetic of the series, as well as a food and drink menu with a motif inspired by the Bebop crew and cast of the series. In addition, series character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto drew up a special celebratory illustration to commemorate the event, and it will be sold along with exclusive merchandise at the cafe's gift shop.

Fittingly, the cafes will be located at the Akihabara branch in Tokyo, and the Nihonbashi branch in Osaka. Both neighborhoods are known to be hotspots for stores and events geared towards fans of anime, video games, and otaku culture. The cafes will officially open up on May 15th, and will run until June 10th. Access information for the Tokyo and Osaka locations can be found here (Tokyo), and here (Osaka). We'll be visiting to report and hopefully confirm that the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack is on loop.
