Haagen-Dazs Matcha Salon Green Tea Ice Cream Specialists Opening in Tokyo for Limited Time Only

It isn’t that long ago that beloved U.S. burger chain Shake Shack made its Japan debut, and its already become a firm favourite. They haven't been shy about embracing Japanese tastes either, for example, the springtime only, cherry blossom and cherry flavoured Shackura Shake.
Exciting news then for Shack fans in Kyoto, the chain has announced a new branch to be opening in Japan’s old capital.
The menu will include Kyoto exclusive matcha treats to celebrate the historic green tea culture of the area.
First up is the Uji Matcha Shake, a collaboration with luxury green tea purveyors, Itohkyuemon. The modern day Shake Shack shake will be given a traditional twist befitting of historical Kyoto, the Uji green tea has been painstakingly ground down in a stone mortar, creating the fine quality matcha powder we expect of Itohkyuemon. Each individual shake is made to order to ensure quality. Added to Shake Shack’s classic vanilla shake, no other toppings are added so that the rich taste and fragrance can stand on their own.
Kyoto Cookie Crete is a collaboration with famed Kyoto cafe, Jouvencelle, loved for their Western-style desserts made with distinctly Japanese ingredients. This special Kyoto-only concrete (a frozen custard blend) is topped generously with Jouvencelle’s signature cookies, mixing the bitterness of Uji matcha with sweet chocolate. The dessert is finished off with marshmallow sauce and dried strawberries.
The new branch will open from 28th March in Kyoto’s Shijo-Karasuma neighborhood.
