When travelling in Tokyo, the kawaii fantasy never has to end. You can travel on Hello Kitty trains, hang out at the Hello Kitty cafes and shops, and after all your sightseeing you can even come back to a fully realized Hello Kitty themed room.
The Keio Plaza Hotel located in Tama opened their Hello Kitty themed rooms back in 2014 and they have seen consistent success, particularly with female guests and families. Tama, located about 30 minutes away from Shinjuku, is also home to the Sanrio Puroland, making this hotel even more convenient for Hello Kitty fans visiting Tokyo.
Now Keio Plaza have expanded the idea to a whole Sanrio themed line of rooms, adding My Melody and Little Twin Stars rooms.
My Melody is Hello Kitty’s best friend and she grew up in the forest of Mariland which is why the My Melody hotel room has taken on a decidedly arborous theme. My Melody herself is depicted on the wall, playing on the swing that her father made for her. The main colour scheme is green (for the forest) and red to represent My Melody’s pretty red hood.
The main theme of the Little Twin Stars room is a theme park above the clouds where Kiki and Lala can play. The twins are shown riding a unicorn along a rainbow in what looks like an all-encompassing pastel dreamland.
If these look like your dream Tokyo accommodation, the rooms can be booked online on the Keio Plaza website.
