In Japan, the 40th anniversary of iconic anime series Mobile Suit Gundam is being celebrated in quite a few ways. Just this year, we've seen premium quality Gundam watches, a battle crossover with Hello Kitty, and even a plan to send Gundam models into space.
The celebration continues courtesy of eye-wear maker OWNDAYS with their new "Wear the GUNDAM" lineup of glasses inspired by Mobile Suits. They even have a giant Gundam head case to fit in.
The lineup consists of glasses inspired by Amuro Ray's RX-78-2 Gundam, Char Aznable's custom MS-06S Zaku II, and mass produced Zaku II and Dom suits. They use OWNDAYS "Snap" series as a base, which come equipped with a snap on sunglasses attachment. The lightweight glasses have logos and model numbers engraved into them as well.
What seems to be stealing the show, however, is this large motorized Mobile Suit Gundam "Head Case" (made at a 1/7 scale) which can store the glasses.
The glasses are priced at 11,980 yen, while the head case is 39,980 yen. They can only be reserved at the Diver City Plaza location of OWNDAYS.
