Starbucks Japan Rings In The New Year With Jiggly Mochi And Kinako Frappuccino
The Japan-exclusive, ostentatious Frappuccino creations are the envy of Starbucks fans the world over, and especially during Christmas season, the coffee chain giant rises to the occasion again and again.
Two festive Frappuccinos have already been released during November, the Merry Strawberry Cake Frappuccino and the Nutty White Chocolate Frappuccino. Normally, this would be enough seasonally appropriate beverages for anyone, but it’s not even December yet and Starbucks Japan have already announced a third Christmas concoction to push their sweet and creamy holiday agenda.
Starbucks Japan's Newest Christmas Frappuccino for 2019
This new Xmas addition is called the ‘Santa Boots Chocolate Frappuccino’, and it seems to be inspired not by the footwear of old St. Nick, but rather by Christmas stockings. Just like a treat-filled stocking hung up on the fireplace, the beverage will be stuffed full of everyone’s favourite nibbles.
The main base of the drink is an icy Frappuccino slathered with chocolate sauce and packed with chocolate chips. Then on top of that is a layer of salty potato chips. The subtle saltiness pairs perfectly with the sweet chocolate, and the crunchiness of the chips makes for a unique beverage. It’s topped with a snowy white cream and sprinkled with bright red chocolate toppings that just scream Christmas.
Adding to the novelty of it all is the edible cookie straw that comes with it. Containing chocolate, potato chips and cookies, you can really have it all with this Frapp.
The treat-packed beverage will cost 690 yen (without tax) and will go on sale in Starbucks branches around Japan from 4th December until 25th. But if you happen to be in Shibuya, four stores (Shibuya Cocoti, Shibuya Modi, Shibuya Koen Dori and Shibuya Fire St.) will start selling it one day early, giving their customers the early Christmas present of trying the Santa Boots Chocolate Frappuccino before anyone else in Japan!
