Many tourists who visit Japan are enamoured by the country’s ‘otaku’ culture. This love of Japanese characters and animations makes locations such as themed cafes a must-visit. For travellers, this stop on the list is about to get much easier to cross off. In fact, they won’t even have to leave the airport.

If you happen to be travelling through Narita this summer, you’ll luckily have the chance to enjoy a special collaboration cafe menu featuring one of the most recognisable Japanese characters of all time.

This Hello Kitty collaboration cafe will be coming to the airport’s ‘Anime Deck’, an area with a goods shop, eat-in-restaurants and an 'entertainment cafe'. The original menu, which will take place in the Entertainment Cafe, includes a range of adorable themed food and drinks.

For main dishes there’s the Hello Kitty’s Lovely Pink Curry (1500 yen). The cute heart shaped bowl is filled with the prettily coloured curry and rice made into a Hello Kitty shape.

Or if you’d prefer bread over rice, the Hello Kitty burger (1500 yen) has a cute Hello Kitty bun complete with signature red bow.

In terms of dessert, travellers can go for either the Hello Kitty Strawberry Pancakes (1400 yen),

Or the Hello Kitty Strawberry Parfait (1200 yen).

There’s a few inventive beverages to quench your thirst in the cutest way while waiting for your flight, starting with the most kawaii of drinks, bubble tea (720 yen).

Hello Kitty Marshmallow Coffee (800 yen) puts a sweet twist on a possibly much-needed caffeine boost.

And for the Hello Kitty Latte (720 yen) there’s a whopping 46 designs to choose from.

Those who order from the collab menu will also receive an awesome coaster decorated with the feline character’s illustrious history. The coaster received will be random and certain designs can only be snagged at certain times.

These collaboration menu items can be grabbed from the Narita Anime Deck’s Entertainment Cafe from 3rd July to 2nd October 2020. You don’t have to be a passenger to visit since it’s located outside of the restricted areas, on the 2nd floor of terminal 2 where anyone can just pop on by. Check out the Anime Deck’s website for up to date information about opening times.
