Watermelon is a traditional summer treat in Japan, so every summer season you see releases like salty watermelon taiyaki and watermelon cat shaped bread.
Japanese capsule toy maker Qualia is now collaborating with popular Japanese illustrator Ponkichi (who famously designed shiba inu alternative yen bank notes!) for figures that play on a Japanese word pun. "Suica" is the Japanese word for watermelon, and "ika" is the Japanese for squid--so if you put them together you get--watermelon squid. A tentacled Cthulian watermleon nightmare!
The capsule toys come in "open" and "closed" versions.
