A Bathing Ape, more casually known as BAPE is a Japanese clothing brand that specialises in street and lifestyle clothing for men, women and children. The brand is known for its collaborations with other brands and often features popular characters and motifs.
BAPE’s newest collection sees the brand working with arguably the world’s best known entertainment franchise; Pokémon. Loved by all different kinds of people across a wide range of ages, the collection is sure to grab the attention of more than just a few fashionistas.
With such a strong presence in today’s world of art, fashion and pop, it is no exaggeration to say that Pokémon has evolved into its own subculture. Inspiring creatives for decades, the much beloved characters have made numerous appearances over the years in fashion.
In this new collection popular Pokémon characters such as Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Eevee, Snorlax, and many more bring a variety of clothing pieces to life with a pop of colour and character. The characters are designed in a style that resembles BAPE’s ‘Baby Milo’ – a sort of ‘chibi’ version of the brand’s ape mascot.
The BAPE Pokémon collection is not just limited to clothing, as a range of key-chains and tote bags and other miscellaneous merchandise are set to be released alongside T-shirts, hoodies and jackets.
The new collection is set to launch both online and at all BAPE shopping stores across Japan on Saturday 31 October 2020.
Keep up with all the latest BAPE trends and styles by following the brand on their Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
