On February 5, 2021, a video showing a man's dinner became a hot topic with over 431,000 likes at the time of writing.
The video was posted on Twitter by Kazuya Shibata (@seevua), who has created a variety of inventions and introduced them on his account.
People both in Japan and abroad praised it, saying things like: "This is amazing!" and "This is cool technology!"
But you don't need us to tell you. Just take a look for yourself...
What comes out of the massive box is... just a bento lunch!
Apparently, the device is a "box that makes any item appear 'gorgeous'." The first generation of the box, which he calls "Derumonte" (no connection to the brand Del Monte), was completed in 2017, and this is his latest model.
It is equipped with lights that illuminate the platform tray from eight different positions and a smoke generator, so no matter what you put in the box, it will make a dramatic appearance and look "gorgeous!"
One problem is that it's very heavy as a result of its uncompromising design and engineering.
Curious visitors have played both videos posted on Shibata's Twitter account on February 5th for a combined total of over 7 million times at the time of writing.
In the video below, you can see the settings and all the attention to detail.
The video received not only praise but also comments such as "I want to buy it!"
Here are some of the other comments it elicited:
With Derumonte, anything is guaranteed to make a dramatic entrance!
Kazuya Shibata also has other cool inventions like an automatic business card delivery system and a disposable chopstick splitter which you can check out on his YouTube channel.
