Report from the world’s largest figure expo, Wonder Festival 2021 Autumn Online

Wonder Festival is a semiannual event for mostly amateur figure modelers and sculptors to display and sell their latest "garage kit" creations, held at the Makuhari Messe convention center. There's also a section for companies to display their latest figures. With both amateur and professional figures combined, Wonder Festival is considered to be the world's largest figure expo.

On Saturday, October 9th, Wonder Festival was held online using the event platform "eventos." About 330 booths exhibited their works, and over 7,300 were sold under the special "one-day license" system, unique to Wonder Festival, through which amateur exhibitors can legally sell creations featuring copyrighted works but only for one day. Many works were sold online as well, allowing visitors to interact and share their passion with the creators online.

In addition, the event offered online content such as a video conversation between a representative of Yoshimoto Kogyo's Plastic Model Club 吉本プラモデル部 and Senmu Miyawaki 宮脇センム, as well as an "air cosplay" project.
