Japanese mother Kiyo (@kiyomura_2525) was recently presented with a gift from her own mother to give to her daughter. She may very well consider the gift a present to herself seeing how wonderful and helpful it is.
A big fan of her 3-year-old grandson, Kiyo's mother decided to craft a one of a kind toy that would not only delight the child, but also prove to be a fun and interactive learning experience.

While the embroidered felt blanket looks charming enough on its own, there are actually layers to its appeal. Each panel on the blanket has a stitched character of hiragana, the basic Japanese phonetic alphabet, on it along with a picture that corresponds to it.
For instance, the panel that contains the character for "re" features a "refrigerator". Aside from the helpful image-word association, the refrigerator can actually be opened to reveal a treat!

The educational blanket has proved to be a great joy for both Kiyo and her young son, and you can feel the love and hope the grandmother has them both in crafting such a sweet and detailed "toy" to learn from.
