Put Your Sweet Tooth In The Corner With New Sumikko Gurashi Traditional Japanese Sweets
A summertime hobby of some kids in Japan is looking for and sometimes collecting stag beetles and Japanese rhinoceros beetles. Some even do so to watch them butt heads and see which one can push another off log stumps in a mini sumo wrestling battle.
But why fight when you can eat? Japanese general goods maker Hac is letting you do just that, with a new hot plate mold that lets you make Japanese rhinoceros and stag beetle shaped cakes and even takoyaki!
The grill features molds shaped like the two beetles, which can be filled with cake or takoyaki batter to make yourself an edible bubbly insect. You can add in ingredients like matcha powder or cacao to give your beetle some color as well.
