Oikawa Tetsudo makes various kinds of initiatives to attract more passengers to the line.
This time, they Oikawa Tetsudo is going to run a classic electric locomotive from 1940s. The model they will use is E101, which was in use on Oikawa Main Line since it was electrified. They will also use classic carriages.
The train trip will last you a day, going back and forth Shinkanaya and Senzu station three times. Passengers are free to stay on all day, or hop on in between. Changing scenes as the day go pass inside a classic Showa-style carriage will take you back in time!
The trip would certainly put a drool on train-lovers' mouths as they will get to hear heavy motor sound of a classic electric locomotive, and other various sound that is hard to find in modern rail networks.
When you stop over at Shizuoka station, get a popular station-exclusive Bento lunch box - though you have to reserve one in advance.
Unfortunately, this event will only be held for one day, on April 23, 2016. They are hoping to attract 80 passengers.
The ticket will cost 12,000 JPY (approx. 108 USD) for an adult, and 6,000 JPY (approx. 54 USD) for a child.
