It does not matter what season it is, nail art in Japan is always in!
In fact, nail art is such a popular culture in Japan, it even gets its own annual celebration at the Tokyo Nail Expo, where you can see some of the most extravagant designs!
From geeky anime and game inspired nails, to the most delicate and intricate of floral designs, whatever your passion, there are nail art studios in Japan where you can get your nails transformed into pieces of art!
Where before you would have had to have set aside time for an appointment at one of Tokyo’s leading nail art studios, now, it is possible to design and print your very own nails at these nail tip printing machines designed by entertainment company, TAKARA TOMY.
With ‘Nail Tip’, you can choose from more than 300 pre-programmed designs, or make use of your own designs by the simple touch of a button. The designs are then printed onto your nails using inkjet technology.
During a time when we have to hide behind facemasks, using your nails as a canvas is the perfect way to express yourself when meeting up with friends or going out on a date. Link up to the machine via smartphone and get your favourite photos and illustrations printed onto your nails.
The nail art is just as easy to take off as it is to get printed on, making it perfect for people who have to remove designs for school, club activities, part-time jobs, or other reasons. On the other hand, you could get your team/job/school’s colours and logos printed and show your support via your nail art designs!
The ‘Nail Tip’ machines will be available to use at various amusement and shopping facilities nationwide from early April.
Introducing the Nail Tip machine
Point 1: Easy operation with touch panel
Follow the instructions on the touch screen panel and print your favourite designs out in roughly 50 seconds. After about 5 to 10 minutes the nail tips will be dry, apply a top coat of polish or gel (available at the machine) to complete the process. Once the top coat is dry, use the provided double sided tape and attach it directly to your own nails.
Point 2: Over 300 pre-programmed designs and colour variations
The pre-programmed designs are available in 6 categories; ‘pastel colour’, ‘fashionista’, ‘girly’, ‘illustrative’, ‘animal’ and ‘seasonal’.
These designs can be printed as they are, or they can be edited and customised to your liking via the touch panel.
These designs also include limited-time collaborations and seasonal motifs that will be updated once every 3-4 months.
Point 3: Print your own designs using the dedicated smartphone app
Simply download the free Nail Tip smartphone application (registered as ネルチップアプリ in the AppStore and Google Play) to select and register your favourite designs, as well as upload your own images to create your unique nail art designs. Think photos of pets, plants, landscapes, your favourite patterns...the possibilities are endless.
