Japan has a well documented appreciation of all things cute, and companies in Japan are definitely no stranger to the exotic appeal of mermaids as a way of marketing kawaii goods. Now a Japan-based company is taking a play out of tourism in the Philippines by allowing you to dress up as a mermaid and enjoy swimming and photo shoots in travel packages.

You may be familiar with The Philippine Mermaid Swimming School, which started in Boracay as an academy for swimming lessons while wearing gaudy mermaid tails. Perhaps with the allure of such a course, as well as Japan's eternal love for The Little Mermaid (Ariel is royalty over here), Japanese company RisingAsia, who runs overseas travel site "Master of Travels", is now offering a similar opportunity in travel packages to Saipan, Guam, Cebu, and Okinawa. By booking one of their Mermaid Tour travel plans, travelers can have an opportunity to transform into a mermaid and have a professional photographer put together a top quality photo shoot.

According to PR Times, the Master of Travels (tabi no tatsujin) website has scouted out picturesque locations near hotels at various foreign and domestic locations where the professional photo shoot can perfectly capture you living out your mermaid fantasy--so expect Japanese Instagrams to be booming with mermaids in the coming year. The photoshoot also doubles as a local tour of popular beaches, but we imagine that many travelers will go with the ultimate goal of becoming a mermaid!

Photo shoots in Guam, for instance, were located on the popular Tumon Beach. We imagine the Okinawa plan will feature some of the Ryukyuu Kingdom flair. Master of Travels has plan information (in Japanese) listed at their website. At packages ranging from 10,000 yen ($97.50 USD) to 15,000 yen ($147.44 USD), the plan is quite affordable considering it includes transportation, a tour, and of course these beautiful mermaid tails.
