It’s been quite a year for Hello Kitty themed cafe collaborations, if that’s your thing. Owing to the fact that it’s the kawaii icon’s 45th anniversary, there’s been Sanrio tea parties, a Harajuku Kawaii Monster Cafe crossover, and even Hello Kitty convenience store coffee.
But as the year draws to a close, Osaka is being blessed with one final chance to eat food inspired by the iconic feline character. Well, one final chance to eat at a cafe specifically in honour of the 45th anniversary anyway.
Kitty’s instantly recognisable bow is the main motif throughout the menu and these culinary tributes to her enduring fashion sense seem like the perfect way to round up an exciting 45th anniversary year.
It’s a dual event taking place in the Hankyu Umeda main store in Osaka, consisting of a collaboration cafe on the 4th floor and the Hello Kitty Fan Fun Fes on the 9th floor’s Shukusai Plaza.
There’s 7 special menu items available in ‘Hello Kitty x Cheers’ which named after the cafe which is being taken over by Kitty’s own brand of fluffy cuteness.
Hello Kitty welcomes customers to the cafe with a ‘hi!’ written on this tasty looking beef stew plate (1500 yen).
There’s also a healthy fruit salad (1280 yen) with the main cat herself sitting on top.
Hello Kitty’s favourite food is apple pie, so apple desserts are a must on this menu. This towering Kitty-topped treat is apple French toast (1480 yen).
This adorably decorated cake (1480 yen) has a juicy strawberry bow on top.
There's more apple on offer in the strawberry and apple parfait (1480 yen).
Since Hello Kitty loves apples so much, this dessert is a whole apple filled with a delicious apple dessert (980 yen).
This incredibly Instagrammable beverage is Hello Kitty’s strawberry milk (920 yen).
The Hello Kitty Fan Fun Fes is happening concurrently in the same shopping mall, on the 9th floor’s Shukusai Plaza. It's free to enter and will surely feature some kawaii Kitty-themed fun, as well as some delicious Hello Kitty themed treats of their own.
Both the Hello Kitty x Cheers cafe collab, and the Hello Kitty Fan Fun Fes are going on until January 13th at the Hankyu Umeda main store, so super fans of the Sanrio character who happen to be in Osaka won't want to miss out on this final double event dedicated to her 45th anniversary.
