Maybe the only way to actually experience the Emishi Village featured in Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke is to visit the upcoming Studio Ghibli theme park, but new gorgeous camping site in Mie prefecture's Uga Valley might be emerging as a rival. The aesthetic and surrounding nature of the new campground is absolutely stunning and drawing comparisons to the Ghibli classic.
The site is called the Hygge Circles Ugakei is still in planning, but it's been specially designed by Danish outdoors goods maker Nordisk and set up to be nestled in the beautiful green of the Uga Valley forests. The concept behind the campground, which will welcome guests into quaint cabins and tents, is to celebrate "nature as a luxury". The camp site is specifically located in Inabe city, which is home to some of the most majestic and lauded mountain scenery in Japan.
"Hygge" is a Danish word that refers to the idea of cozy and content well-being, and the new lodging spot hopes to promote that concept along with independent sustainability and frugality with a living experience that gets people to rely on their surroundings.
The village lodging experience is set to launch in early 2021, and it's hard to imagine it not becoming a great hit.
