Last month, the results of Sanrio’s 2020 Character Ranking were revealed. As friendly as this worldwide fan-voted popularity contest is between Sanrio’s most beloved creations, there are real benefits to your favourite character placing in the upper rankings.

Post-competition, the top ten characters could take part in one-on-one video calls with their admirers. Now another cool event is on its way for fans of the ten most popular characters. The Powder Art Cafe Harajuku in Tokyo is having a Sanrio collab which will celebrate these characters only. This unique cafe allows customers to decorate their own food and drinks with powder art pens.

From 15th July until mid-October, the cafe will be home to a super cute Sanrio inspired menu.

This strawberry shaved ice is themed around My Melody, who came in a very respectable fourth place.

And Tuxedo Sam, who just made it into the top ten this year, has a savoury tribute in the form of a shrimp coquille plate.

Even when this celebration of the 2020 Sanrio Character Ranking is over, the cute character fun at Powder Art Cafe just don’t stop. The cafe will then transition to another Sanrio collaboration event, focusing on My Melody and Little Twin Stars to mark their 45th anniversary, which will continue until January next year.
