While we're pretty accustomed to seeing those dedicated to plastic modeling ("puramo", as it is often shortened in Japan) craft impressive anime-themed works such as dioramas that look stunningly like Macross stills and particularly scenes from the world of Mobile Suit Gundam, food isn't something that comes to mind immediately when thinking of the hobby.
There's definitely been some growing (and complex) models in that category lately, however, including an incredibly detailed Nissin Cup Noodle model. Another recently received option comes from Japanese capsule toy manufacturer Syuto, who released full scale model kits that allow you to build sushi plates rice grain by rice grain earlier this year.
Syuto has now released an addition to the series in the form of plastic models based off of sushi-dinner regular Kappa maki, or cucumber rolls, that you can once again build uniquely grain by grain.
The new cucumber roll plastic models come with a total of 546 rice grain parts (273 grains for each piece are recommended). However, it's up to you how many and in what pattern you want to assemble them, meaning you can make some unique looking cucumber rolls.
This is the first time in the series that the sushi is rolled so thinly, so it needs to be glued in a straight cylindrical shape. The cucumber portion itself even comes with separate veggie "meat" and skin parts.
The 1/1 scale plastic cucumber roll models even come in packaging used for takeout orders at sushi restaurants!
The cucumber roll sushi plastic model set can be ordered online from Amazon.
