Japan’s branches of Baskin Robbins often spoil ice cream fans with Japan-only releases which take on various awesome themes. Sometimes they collaborate with famous characters from Disney or Pokemon, and other times they even mark traditional Japanese celebrations (such as Girls’ Day) with an icy treat.
For the incoming New Year, Baskin Robbins Japan have gone for a reference to 2021’s animal, as assigned by the Chinese Zodiac. Next year is the Year of the Ox, so the ice cream chain is adding a cow character to their usual ‘Happy Doll’ lineup, which usually includes a rabbit, a panda and a bear. This series allows you to choose whatever ice cream flavour you want and have it decorated in your chosen style.
The cow’s signature ears and horns have been made out of chocolate, and the cute, smiling features are drawn with a chocolate pen. Whipped cream and sprinkles add some extra decorations, and 2021 has been written on a chocolate star.
Even the cup is adorned with a cow-pattern, to celebrate the New Year in style.
This New Year treat will be available at Baskin Robbins in Japan from 28th December until 13th January for about 480 yen.
