The Mako reactor-powered city of Midgar in FF7 remains one of the most iconic and endearing opening settings in a game to Final Fantasy 7 fans. While Final Fantasy VII Remake provided fans with a near lifelike stroll down memory lane, Japanese photographer Neevosk (@neevosk) may have given FF fans as close a look at a real Midgar as they'll ever have with a series of photos he recently took in Saitama prefecture!

Obviously, Saitama prefecture isn't host to Shinra Headquarters, but the combination of a swirling sea of fog, starry skies, and stacks of smoke that rise from the constantly glowing steel factories located in the Chichibu basin make for an uncanny replication of FF7's Midgar!
