Japan's Donguri Kyowakoku is essentially a merchandise paradise for fans of all things Studio Ghibli. Among all their charming Ghibli goods, however, perhaps their biggest hit so far comes from the world of Hayao Miyazaki's classic Spirited Away.
A few years ago, the Studio Ghibli goods emporium released a No-Face piggy bank that devoured coins, burped, and play music from the celebrated anime. The piggy bank inspired by the gluttonous spirit was so popular it initially sold out and had to be brought back a year later.
Now, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Spirited Away, the No-Face piggy bank is back with the ability to speak and an even bigger appetite.
The new and improve No-Face piggy bank features a more intimidating maw that not only belches after you feed it coins, but also shouts out lines from the movie such as "I'm hungry, I'm starving! I'm a customer, I'm getting in the bath, wake up everyone!" when presented with a coin, frog, or fish automatically! The songs Kamisama-Tachi (Procession of the Spirits) and Itsumo Nando Demo (Always With Me) from the Spirited Away soundtrack play as No-Face enjoys a meal and saves your money.
The new No-Face piggy bank will be available from Donguri Kyowakoku's online shop and retail locations in Japan beginning July 22nd, priced at 6,380 yen.
