Poisoning Suspected on “Cat Island”: Suffering Cats Witnessed and 60 Cats Dead

Many animals seem to look extra adorable while sleeping, and some napping pets are so cute that they manage to go viral on social media thanks to their peaceful, angelic faces.
Other times, pets can get attention online for having the most unexpected poses while sleeping. We’ve seen a cat that seemed to carry on sleeping soundly despite falling halfway through a box lid, and a munchkin kitty that sleeps like a wooden board, literally.
But this photo that caught our attention this month, shows a position that has been described as ‘gold medal-worthy’. The sleeping pose ‘athlete’ at the centre of this buzz is Muchamaru, a cat from Japan.
Check out the photo for yourself to see his unexpected sleeping posture.

He’s fast asleep, holding his back legs up with his front paws. The photo drew comparisons to Olympic divers, with many comments saying he would take the gold medal no problem.
Apart from the similarities with diving champions, many others wondered how it was even possible to sleep in what looks like a strenuous pose to stay in for any length of time.
Of course, humans can’t compare to cats when it comes to flexibility, that’s why they seem to be able to turn into liquid at will…
