Here at grape Japan, we remain committed to documenting every strange pose a cat has struck that has gone viral on the Japanese side of Twitter. Whether it’s an eccentric sleeping position, or transformation into liquid, it’s always a matter of public interest.
So when we saw comments on a photo of a cat such as ‘I’ve never seen this before’, it piqued our interest. The original post received over 240 thousand likes and over 40 thousand retweets, so it’s fair to say many people were intrigued by this cat’s style. Even the pet owner that posted the photo had captioned it with the words, ‘what is this?’
So what was the surprising pose? Take a look for yourself.

The cat’s sitting down quite normally on a cushion, but then, when you look at her front paws, you'll see that she’s holding up her body with just the strength of her tippy-toes.

Why? Is that comfortable? Is it just a form of stretching? Is she practicing ballet?
It was definitely unexpected, but she looks pretty content though, so maybe it’s a comfortable position after all.
As we know, cats do not abide by the laws of physics, so there’s no point in applying human logic to the things they do. If you want to enjoy more weird and cute feline antics, check out the owner’s Twitter profile!
